The Case for Independent Travel for People with Learning Disabilities
In January 2007 the Bradford Travel Training Unit commissioned an independent report to look at the issues around the provision of travel training for people with learning disabilities. This report examined many of the background issues that helped set the piece of work in context. It looked at travel training in respect of the benefits to individuals, their families, carers and support services. It put the financial case for travel training and highlighted the savings to existing education and social service transport provision. Finally it showed how travel training links in with key national and local strategies for an accessible environment for people with learning disabitiies.
